The name is derived from the Sanskrit term dipavali, meaning “row of lights.” The festival generally symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Observances of Diwali differ depending on region and tradition.

Holi is celebrated in the middle of the spring and summer seasons. Following the day one celebrations, people celebrate Holi by playing with colours, singing, exchanging stories, dancing and enjoying homemade sweets.
